Teenage Dream is the third studio album and second mainstream album by American singer-songwriter Katy Perry. It was released on August 24, 2010 in the United States. The album's lead single titled "California Gurls" featuring Snoop Dogg was sent to US radio on May 7, 2010. The album's second single and title track, "Teenage Dream", was released on July 23, 2010. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 selling 200,000 in her first week.

In the UK midweeks, the album is in pole position with sales almost doubling the sales of its nearest competition "Recovery" by Eminem.

"California Gurls" featuring rapper Snoop Dogg is the lead single from the album. Capitol Records sent the song to U.S. radio on May 7, 2010. The song became available as a digital download on May 11, 2010. The song spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has sold over three million digital copies to date. The title track, was released to radio stations on July 22, 2010. Jocelyn Vena of MTV said it "picks up right where 'California Gurls' leaves off. With a strong beat to back her up, Perry sings about a boy who makes her feel like a teenager again" after hearing it at a listening event in New York City. The following day the single was released via iTunes. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number twenty and has since reached number three. According to Billboard, "Firework" will be the third single from the album and is due for release in October 2010. The music video is set to include competition winners from eastern Europe.

Prior to the release of the album, three promotional singles were released exclusively on Apple's iTunes Store as a countdown to Teenage Dream. "Not Like the Movies" was released on August 3, 2010, and made a debut of 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 before falling from the Hot 100 the following week. "Circle the Drain" was released on August 10, 2010, as the second promotional single and entered the Billboard Hot 100 at 58. "E.T." the final promotional single was released the following week on August 17, 2010 and charted at 42 on the Billboard Hot 100.
